The Thought of José Martí and Ernesto Che Guevara

This study trip is not offered in 2006

Accompanied by Dr. Susan Babbitt, Philosophy, (babbitts@post.queensu.ca)

This Cuba course on José Martí and Ernesto Che Guevara was offered for the second year at the University of Havana. It focuses on the philosophical contribution of José Martí and on the work of Ernesto Che Guevara. Many of Martí's ideas were pursued and realized by El Che. This study trip is divided in two weeks, a first week of lectures on José Martí given by Dr. Rigoberto Pupo Pupo, specialist in José Martí and a second week on the thought of Ernesto Che Guevara by Dr. Carlos Jesús Delgado Díaz. The program also includes a field trip to Santa Clara to visit the Mausoleo del Che, the Museo Nacional Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara and the Monumento del Descarrilamiento (train derailment).
